Neverwinter Nights was never a great single-player game, imo. Usually I'd see a PrC, or class feature, or oddball note about in the Forgotten Realms Kossuth being N but his temples being LN and therefore clerics could treat him as either, or whatever and get inspired to do something unique with it (was personally fond of my raised-Thayan extremely zealous heretical gnomish sorcerer-priest of Kossuth). Sorcerers who bordered on being divine casters, tanky survivalist warlocks, one shapeshifting.thing that ended up relatively high level and had forgotten what his natural form actually was by that point (it was actually a race from a splatbook that was key to making the build work but he was literally never in that form) - by then it was sufficiently fluid in it's/his/her/their identity that it didn't really identify as anything, because it identified as everything. It seemed to try to drag MMO concepts into the game in a way that made it not "feel" like D&D any more.įor example, the grouping of classes into "roles", the standardized ability progression between classes and standardized progressions for all classes made for samey-feeling classes and a lack of breadth in character design.īut then I tended to build "weird" characters that ran against the grain. To be fair, a lot of people really didn't like 4th.
To dismiss it all just because one totally irrelevant non-necessary character states she's trans if you pick some dialogue options with her and Minsc says "it's all about ethics in heroic adventuring" in a 4th wall breaking joke if you click him enough is a bit weird.

Plus I'm one of the few who seems to like The Black Pits too, fun for trying out different party line ups against powerful enemies even if the stories are whatever.
but they all have specialties which other NPC's don't have (wild mage, blackguard, thief/vampire, sorcerer, monk, shaman, bear) and in fairness neither are most of the NPCs in game, like for every Jan or Edwin there's a Cnerd or Anomen. They aren't super powerful or well optimized. Baeloth especially is great for example while Raasad is definitely not worth picking up. I mean yeah Dragonspear wasn't as great as the originals, but it's still fun and definitely on a par with the Tales of the Sword Coast expansion IMO.Īnd personally I quite liked some the new characters they added, but they're also super easy to ignore if you don't want to use them. /r/GamePhysics - Clips of game physics shining and glitchingĭesign based on /r/FlatBlue created by /u/creesch./r/gaming4gamers - middle ground between purely-for-fun and more serious subreddits./r/GamingLeaksAndRumours - Leaks and Rumors.Posting unmarked spoilers will result in removal and warning, and posting spoilers with malicious intent will result in a ban.
